Gem Paving was founded in 1989 by its Senior Partner, S P Greenwood (MCIOB) who had previously worked in the industry as a regional Contracts Manager for one of the countries leading manufacturing installation paving companies.

It was setup as a specialist sub-contractor offering block paving installation for main contractors, builders, developers and ground workers. Although this is still its main area of activity, it has subsequently installed brick, block, sett, slab, york stone and porous paving systems.
